The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) manages South Australia’s nature and heritage conservation. Along with their conservation programs and scientific research, they look after the state’s botanic gardens and over 300 national parks and reserves. This covers some of the state’s most significant natural and cultural sites, from the beautiful Flinders Ranges to the rugged Kangaroo Island coastline. They encourage South Australians to actively explore their state and enjoy the diverse experiences that our parks and gardens offer
Established in 1969, the Caravan and Camping Industries Association of SA (CCIASA) markets and fosters the growth of the caravan and camping self drive tourism industry in South Australia. Representing over 130 trade members, the Association creates opportunities for the industry including the organisation and management of South Australia’s largest self drive holiday consumer shows which generate in excess of 40 million dollars of retail business over three events in nine days.
Working in collaboration with regional tourism, the Caravan Park Association of SA and national stakeholders, the CCIASA develops and implements marketing strategies to promote the benefits and increase participation in caravan and camping tourism.
Rymill Coonawarra is a family owned winery located in the heart of South Australia’s renowned Coonawarra district. The first vineyards were planted in 1974, and now cover 160 hectares. The winery was established in 1990, with a processing capacity of 2,200 tonnes and storage of two million litres. The vineyard, winery and marketing staff now comprise approximately 20 people. The Rymill brands, recognised by two bronze stallions rampant, are available at cellar door, distributed throughout Australia, and exported to numerous key overseas markets.
International education offers significant spin-offs for South Australia’s tourism sector. An estimated 90,000 trips per year through Adelaide airport are undertaken by international students with a total travel spend of around $10.1 million per year. The families of overseas students also generate a huge amount of tourism income. Education Adelaide estimates that these visitors stay an average of just under five days, generating more than 112,360 bed nights per annum and about $8.6 million in tourism dollars for the local economy.

Flinders University Tourism courses are real-world and industry relevant, taught by practitioners, connect with the industry globally, and provide individual attention to each and every student that they teach. It is a niche degree with the highest staff/student ratio in the state with internationally recognised and award winning teaching staff. Our courses have been nationally recognised for innovation and consistently receive high student satisfaction ratings. Demand for our students is high as are the employment rates of our graduates. Enrolments for our undergraduate and professional courses are up as is the demand from industry for training, consulting and advice.
McLaren Vale Beer Company is a young South Australian company fast gaining accolades from around the world. This year its VALE/DRY was awarded a Gold Medal at the International Beer Challenge – one of only two Australian brews to win gold. In January, its VALE/ALE was voted Australia’s best craft beer in the annual Local Taphouse’s Hottest 100 Craft Beers of 2010. McLaren Vale Beer Company owns and operates VALE INN in McLaren Vale (formerly Salopian Inn), a hub of good food and beers from around the world.
Newstyle Printing is a privately owned South Australian company. Newstyle has built an enviable reputation as a leader in the offset printing industry in Australia. Newstyle Printing produces full colour, large and small print run productions with a high level of quality, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction that is recognised throughout the industry.
The SeaLink Travel Group has grown into a successful enterprise operating significant tourism and transport businesses within Australia. The LGA is recognised as the peak representative body for Local Government in this State and prides itself on being the Voice of Local Government. The mission of the LGA is to provide leadership to Councils for the benefit of the South Australian community. To achieve this mission the Association has set itself four key areas of activity: Strengthening relationships with all spheres of government; enhancing the financial capacity of Local Government; facilitating the continued development and enhancement of Local Government; and promoting participation in, and an understanding of, Local Government.
TAFE SA is recognised as the preferred Registered Training Organisation for Tourism and Events training in South Australia. With campuses located across the State, TAFE SA’s strength is in our range of courses, variety of locations and the experience of our teaching staff. Our close connections with industry mean we continually develop new programs to meet the emerging Tourism and Events markets. Training with TAFE SA Tourism, Events and Languages gives students the skills to gain employment in the industry. Along the way they receive learning support, student counselling, practical experience and pathways to further study. Courses are available from Certificate through to Bachelor degree level in the streams of Tourism, Events, Retail Travel, Wine Tourism, Tour Guiding and in Languages.
